DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) -- Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly said in a press conference around 4 p.m. Wednesday that the sheriff's office is searching for a Black male wearing a dark hoodie and black pants with white sneakers.The man described is a person of interest in a shooting that occurred just before 2 p.m. Weekly said the man was standing on the northeast corner of S. Jamaica and exchanged gunfire with someone in a dark-colored sedan headed southbound on Inverness Parkway. PAONIA, Colo. (KDVR) -- A large sinkhole forced a section of Colorado Highway 133 to close Wednesday in Delta and Gunnison Counties, north of Paonia.The sinkhole started Saturday, April 29, and has caused significant damage to the road. Drivers were asked to avoid the area unless absolutely necessary. The Colorado Department of Transportation said spring runoff is a factor in the creation of the sinkhole. 13 charges filed against suspects in deadly rock-throwing spree CDOT is looking for ways to safely reopen the road but said those options are limited due to spring runoff and the nearby terrain.Additionally, CDOT will coordinate with partner agencies and residents to allow limited travel in the area, such as for emergency services.CDOT said commuters and local residents should plan on not being able to travel through the area while the highway is closed because of the size of the sinkhole.Drivers are encouraged to look up an alternate route on COtrip.org.Woman hospitalized after shooting in front of Park Lakes Elementary in Lauderdale Lakes

Rescue crews took a woman to the hospital after, authorities said, she was shot in the middle of a busy Lauderdale Lakes roadway, temporarily placing a nearby elementary school on lockdown. Deputies with the Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene near North State Road 7 and Northwest 38th Street, Wednesday afternoon. Detectives said the shooting started in front of Park Lakes Elementary School and came to an end about 10 blocks south.As a result, the campus was placed on lockdown.According to officials, a woman in her 70s may have been caught in the middle of the crossfire while heading southbound on State Road 7.“What it appears, from the preliminary information at this point, is that occupants of a black sedan fired multiple rounds from their vehicle in this general area and then fled northbound on North State Road 7,” said BSO spokesperson Carey Codd.Paramedics transported the injured woman to Broward Health Medical Center. A group of stroke survivors reunited with their lifesavers at a South Florida hospital.Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood welcomed the patients back at an event held Wednesday.The group sat down with doctors and other medical personnel and shared their stories of survival and recovery.“I got the right care at the right time. I don’t think it was my time,” said survivor Adrian Bias.“Time is brain. Former Massachusetts Lt. Gov. and Attorney General Frank Bellotti celebrated his 100th birthday on Wednesday with an event held for him at Quincy District Court. Bellotti grew up in Roxbury. He was then elected Lieutenant Governor in 1962 and later served as Massachusetts’ Attorney General from 1975 to 1987. Quincy District Court was named in Bellotti’s honor in 2012. Quincy officials are looking for state lawmakers to approve a request that would allow retired firefighters to come back on board for support duties.The Quincy City Council supports giving the fire chief the power to appoint retirees as “special firefighters” who’d help cover detail assignments. A 65-year-old Massachusetts woman was recently scammed out of $28,000 after clicking on a link while online shopping, as police warn residents about the rise in such scams.Merrimac Police are investigating after a resident last week contacted police because she realized she had been scammed out of $28,000.The 65-year-old woman had been online shopping when she clicked on a link and began receiving warnings that claimed to be scam alerts.
