(KRON) -- An arrest warrant has been issued for an Oakland Police Department officer who has been charged with perjury and threatening witnesses, among other things. The officer, Phong Tran, is a 46-year-old man. Tran is wanted on a no-bail warrant.Officer Tran is wanted for committing perjury on the stand, according to Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price.Offenses that officer is wanted for include:Perjury under oathThreatening witnessesDefendant induced participation in crimeBribery of witnessAttempted bribery of witness"Lying and manipulating a witness are serious violations of the public trust, and Officer Tran will be held accountable," said DA Price in a statement. (KRON) -- The Hayward Police Department has announced the arrest of the suspect in a Jan. 4 homicide that left one dead. The arrest was made on April 6, officials said.Officers arrested 53-year-old suspect Anthony Bergstrom for the murder of 53-year-old victim Jesse Nieto of Hayward. The homicide happened during the early morning hours of April 4. Officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 24000 block of Park Street. Underground casino ring shut down in San Jose At the scene, officers said they found Nieto unresponsive suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.Bergstrom was arrested on several charges including murder and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico (AP) — The head of Mexico’s immigration agency was arraigned on charges Tuesday that he failed in his responsibility to protect those in his custody when 40 migrants died in a fire at a border detention center last month.Federal prosecutors said that there are video recordings showing that private security guards in the facility had asked immigration agents permission to release the migrants when the fire started, but were denied. Prosecutors presented evidence that Francisco Garduño, the head of the Mexican Immigration Institute, was responsible for the safety of country’s immigration facilities and should have closed those that did not meet safety requirements. A migrant allegedly started a fire inside the Ciudad Juarez detention center March 27. Security cameras inside the facility showed smoke quickly filling the cell holding 68 male migrants, but no one with keys attempting to release them. The Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating why two people have died and another person fell critically ill after working at warehouse in recent days.BSO and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to Baer’s Furniture outlet, at 1589 NW 12th Ave., Tuesday morning. 7Skyforce hovered over the scene as people were rushed out of the warehouse by fire rescue. A hazardous materials team arrived at the scene to find any potential contaminant that may have made the people sick, who, authorities said, worked inside the building at different times and started to feel sick in the last few days. (AP) — A Florida man is charged with murder and other offenses in the slaying and dismemberment of an Uber Eats driver who had brought food to the assailant’s house, authorities said Tuesday.Oscar Solis Jr., 30, is charged with killing the driver during a delivery Wednesday at a home in Holiday, Florida, Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said at a news conference. The remains were found at the house in trash bags and a cooler, which also contained a receipt with Solis’ name on it, according to a police affidavit.“This was a horrific crime of passion,” Nocco told reporters. “This was demonic. (CNN) — The 2-year-old boy found last month in an alligator’s mouth in a St. Petersburg, Florida, lake died of drowning, police say.Taylen Mosley was reported missing on March 30 after his mother, Pashun Jeffery, 20, was found dead in her apartment with multiple stab wounds. The boy was put in the lake by his father, who is charged in both deaths, according to a St. Petersburg police affidavit.Taylen was found March 31 in the mouth of an alligator in Lake Maggiore.The Pinellas County medical examiner confirmed Monday that the cause of death was drowning, St. Petersburg police told CNN.The toddler’s father, Thomas Mosley, 21, is facing two counts of first-degree murder.
