Our first 80 of May happened Sunday, and with some mugginess we really haven't seen so far this spring. Our latest pollen report shows high levels of tree pollen. Mold spores and grasses are low—but warm breezy days like today can lift the large grass pollen quite a bit and maybe even right into your sinuses. Grass pollen typically will rise as tree pollen starts to fall off later this month.Days are getting longer as we get closer to summer solstice next month. By next Friday, Chicagoland will see our first sunset of the year after 8 pm. Enjoy the longer days!Rainfall has been lacking in the first 6 days of the month. May is typically our wettest month of the year so that's why we're already down 3/4 of an inch of rain. The lack of rain in the Great Plains continues to cause some serious to extreme dry condit...

Community rallies for Compton Coach who was wrongfully detained Family and community members peacefully marched along Compton Boulevard on Sunday to raise awareness and demand justice for a coach after he was wrongfully detained. The community is hoping that the march will help prevent this from happening to others. Youth community leader, mentor, and coach Derrick Cooper was arrested inside his home by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies in April. Cooper says he was forced to leave his home, while naked from the waist down, and detained in a police car for nearly 20 minutes before he was finally released.“I’ve worked in Compton literally half my life and I’ve been victimized twice and I’m tired,” Copper said. “I was able to live through this last ordeal when they broke into my building. I’m in the bed sleep and they woke me up with guns and put a flashlight in my face. Me, the citizens, my brothers and my sisters, we’re tired. This has been going across the country forever and today we start now”  He along with other commu...
