Fans of Italian coffee culture, rejoice: A new cafe in downtown Oakland aims to replicate the Continental coffee experience, with all its sleek design touches and steam-shooting gizmos. And it’s run by the Italian-descended family behind local roasters Mr. Espresso.The Caffè by Mr. Espresso, which opens today at 1120 Broadway, channels a product name no doubt familiar to many Bay Area caffeine junkies. REDWOOD CITY — A teen accidentally shot himself in the leg at a downtown parking garage Sunday night, and another teen was found stabbed nearby, police said.Officers were called around 8:10 p.m. to the garage at 750 Marshall St. and found a 15-year-old boy suffering from a leg wound. According to Redwood City police, they determined the injury was “caused by a self-inflicted, accidental discharge as a result of the juvenile having a firearm in his waistband.”The injured teen was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive. (KRON) -- A two-alarm fire sparked in a busy area of Presidio Heights on Monday morning, according to the San Francisco Fire Department. One dead after vehicle overturns in San Jose crash The fire is in the 3500 block of California Street, according to SFFD. Photos from the scene show Bluemercury, a cosmetics store on the street, with smoke coming out of the second floor window. Flames are also visible in the windows of Bluemercury. Smoke appeared to be coming from the First Republic Bank location next door, but it is unclear if the blaze spread to that building as well. Fire crews seem to be on the backside of the building near the parking area.Several businesses and single family homes line this stretch of California Street. (KRON) -- The victim in a deadly crash in San Jose on Sunday has been identified by his family, and information from police is shedding new light on how the crash unfolded. Two-alarm commercial fire sparks in Presidio Heights Jefferson Smith, 26, died at the scene of the crash. Smith's family says he is a native of San Jose del Guaviare in Colombia. He arrived in the United States only three months ago "seeking to fulfill his dreams and the dreams of his loved ones," his family says. Now, his family is asking for donations to send Smith's body home to Colombia for a Christian burial. The crash happened around 1:30 p.m., when a man driving a white 2011 Toyota Corolla sedan entered the northbound lanes of Leigh Avenue heading the wrong way, according to the San Jose Police Department. Amazon is finally graduating from rented space in Crystal City, Virginia, with the official opening Monday of its two Metropolitan Park office towers in Pentagon City.The opening comes nearly five years after the digital giant chose Northern Virginia for HQ2, and committed to creating 25,000 jobs by 2030.Construction of Metropolitan Park started in early 2020 at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
