(NEXSTAR) — Unlike 2022, when several states approved recreational marijuana, 2023 was a relatively quiet year for marijuana legalization. It was only Ohio that successfully legalized the recreational use of marijuana this year. In November, voters approved a citizen-initiated statute to allow Ohioans 21 years and older to possess up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis and up to 15 grams of cannabis extract. They can keep up to six cannabis plants or up to 12 if there are two adults at least 21 years old in their household. Ohio, already one of the more than a dozen states to have legalized medical cannabis, became the 24th state to legalize recreational marijuana. The Kentucky General Assembly also legalized medical marijuana this year, Nexstar's WDKY reports, but patients will have to wait until 2025 for the program to officially launch. Can TSA stop you for marijuana in your luggage? Other states did try to legalize marijuana in 2023. In Oklahoma, voters rejected the legalization of...Boeing urges airlines to inspect 737 MAX airplanes for loose bolts

(WJW) – Boeing is asking airlines to check for loose bolts within the rudder control system of its 737 MAX airplanes, the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed Thursday. The announcement stems from the discovery of a bolt with a missing nut during a routine inspection of "a mechanism in the rudder-control linkage," the FAA said. "The company discovered an additional undelivered aircraft with a nut that was not properly tightened," the agency added. New math formula aims to prevent child tantrums on airplanes Carriers that have 737 MAX aircraft in their fleet — Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines — are now being instructed to examine the "specific tie rods that control rudder movement for possible loose hardware," according to the FAA.Boeing estimates the inspections to take around two hours per plane. Aircraft operators also routinely conduct tests prior to takeoff that would alert them to any issue with the rudder, Boeing added.A represen...City of Austin opening cold weather shelters night of Dec. 29
